I contribute to the development of web publishing software. I don’t generally use it to publish things myself.
Why? Honestly, I just don’t set aside the time.
I enjoy writing. Most of my job involves posting on Automattic’s internal blogs running the o2 theme.
I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time and money configuring the system that hosts this site, my photoblog, and others. The amount of use this configuration sees is certainly not proportionate to the investment, but it’s a hobby. 🙂
So, what’s the point?
In early March, my coworker Justin Shreve challenged us at Automattic to blog daily for the month of April. I considered participating, but assumed I’d follow my tendencies and fail after a few days. Come April 1, I randomly had a few dozen photos I hadn’t posted the photoblog, so I scheduled the different sets over a few days. The momentum has mysteriously continued (proof positive), leaving just seven posts between here and success.
