For more years than I can remember, there’s been a particular rhythm that I’d periodically remember–but only in fragments.
These bits tortured me for well more than fifteen years, but I could never remember even enough to hum it to a service that would sort it out, nor recall enough to Google a bit of a lyric.
Recently, however, I’ve been on a Billy Joel kick. This is largely due to Sirius’ Billy Joel Channel, which compelled me to dig deep into his catalogue.
In the process, I rediscovered the song that’d rattled around my memory for nearly two decades: “Blond Over Blue.” There’s something about the significant and frequent chord progressions, and the song’s key, that stuck with me. The album as a whole is demonstration of contrasts, which probably attracted me.
