Moving some obscure services to non-standard ports, and intentionally letting a Let’s Encrypt certificate expire, are fantastic ways to test all of the alerting I’ve set up. 🔔📣

That reminds me I need to set up automatic renewal of the cert on my site ..
LE is making it easier. Newer versions of the client include a
renew
command, which uses configurations that LE stores after the first request.I’m sticking with my custom configurations and renewal script, though, because I want to start using my own CSRs. I’m OCD enough that I need to control what becomes the common name and what ends up in SAN. 😀
